In this guide, you will learn how to permanently delete your Vercel personal account or Team account and understand what gets deleted when you perform this action. It also includes some troubleshooting steps that you may encounter when trying to delete the account.
Vercel has two types of accounts:
- Personal accounts: Your individual account tied to your email address. This includes your personal projects and settings.
- Team accounts: Shared workspaces for collaboration. Teams can have multiple members and separate billing.
Having trouble? See Troubleshooting Account Deletion for common issues like sign-in problems or disabled delete buttons.
Deleting your account is permanent and cannot be undone. All your projects and deployments will be permanently deleted.
- In the dashboard, select your profile icon
- Select Account Settings
- Scroll to the Delete Account section
- Select Delete Personal Account. A warning message will appear explaining that:
- All your projects will be permanently deleted
- All deployments will be removed
- This action cannot be undone
- Review the warning carefully, then confirm deletion if you want to proceed
To delete a Team (not your personal account):
- Navigate to your Team settings by selecting the Team name in the dashboard
- Select Settings → General
- Scroll to Delete Team
- Select Delete Team and confirm
You must be a Team Owner to delete a Team.
If you're unable to sign in to delete your account:
- Try all available login methods:
- Email and password
- GitHub
- GitLab
- Bitbucket
- Use the password reset option if signing in with email
- If you still cannot access your account, contact support with your email address
If you receive an error that your email is already in use but you can't sign in. This occurs when an account was partially created but never verified.
To resolve:
- Check your email for a verification link from Vercel
- If no verification email exists, contact support to remove the incomplete account
If the delete button is disabled or not working, ensure you've met these prerequisites:
- All projects are deleted
- All subscriptions are cancelled
- All custom domains are removed
- You're not the sole owner of any Teams (transfer ownership or delete Teams first)
